John Hiester

My name is John Hiester, and I am the founder and CEO of Hiester Automotive. I’m a simple guy. I was born in Ohio. I went to school to be a diesel mechanic but decided to go in a different direction. I got in the car business and worked for Leith in Raleigh, North Carolina, back in the mid-1980s. I worked my way up through the company but got tired of having to move every time they bought a new store. My wife and I were expecting as I moved to work with Darryl Burke Chevrolet in Fuquay. I worked there for nine years before purchasing my first store in Angier, North Carolina, a town of about 2,000 people. 

Hiester Automotive now has four stores and over 300 employees in the North Carolina area. I regularly speak around the country at automotive business conferences and am on the board of a number of automotive industry organizations. I published my first book, Why Jacob Matters, in 2019.  My second book, Hire Who You Want: Attract and Keep the Perfect Employees, will be out in Summer 2022.
